Literature Text

On every page there is a shadow.
And if on every page there is a shadow,
Then every day has a shadow.
And if every day has a shadow,
Then every memory has a shadow.
And if every memory has a shadow,
Then every person has a shadow,
Something they are hiding,
Something that makes them cry,
Something that makes them angry,
Something they don't want uncovered,
Something they don't want to share,
Something they put behind everything else,
Something they translate into everything they say,
Something small,
Something large,
Something that changed everything they once knew.
A rape,
A beating,
A fight,
An insult,
A mistake,
A midnight meeting,
An addiction,
A guilty pleasure,
A love,
A hate.
Everyone has something they are hiding.
Everyone says they don't.
Everyone has a shadow.
Every memory has a shadow,
Every second has a shadow,
Every minute has a shadow,
Every hour,
Every day,
Every week,
Every month,
Every year,
Every decade,
Every century,
A smear,
A mark,
A blotch,
A smudge,
A stain,
A soil,
A tarnish,
A blemish,
A dark spot,
A black hole,
A shadow,
Every page has a shadow.
On every person there is a shadow.
On every memory there is a shadow.
On every page there is a shadow.
this is a poem that I wrote, beginning and ending with a quote from Eugene Ormandy. please let me know what you think :)
